Possible 2 year deal reached over bus driver dispute

The row over whether bus drivers should give up their paid lunch breaks may have reached a conclusion following a 4 hour meeting yesterday.

The issue has been rumbling on for some time with Government proposing they stop the paid breaks in an effort to save around £300,000.

In general terms it would have equated to a 12 per cent pay cut to each employee.

Along the way it has also been alleged that drivers had received letters threatening the sack if they didn’t agree to the new terms.

Speaking to head of the Unite union, Eric Holmes, he told us he feels confident a compromise has been reached, but can’t comment further until the end of the ballot on the proposals in mid September:
