Campaign Advertising Should be Opened Up to Radio Says PAG
The Positive Action Group have proposed that changes in legislation be introduced so next years General Election campaign can be opened up by allowing political party advertising on the radio.
PAG are a political pressure group formed back in 2006.
The proposal has been put to the Independent Review Panel, who are currently taking a look at the rules and transparency of the Island’s electoral processes.
PAGs argument is that when the current Broadcasting Act was drafted in 1993 there was only one radio option; there is now of course multiple choice, with a range of demographics catered for.
The group have said it would take something like this for the public to have full confidence in the fairness of the electoral process.
