The Infrastructure Minister says Douglas's port is under pressure because of a lack of space.
Tim Crookall was asked in Tynwald this week by Onchan MHK Julie Edge about whether there are increasing issues with freight capacity there.
Mr Crookall said the port has 65 trailer spaces, which is less than ideal, and the extra size of the Manxman was also contributing to the problem.
