Firefighters were called to a house in Port Erin yesterday afternoon.
Crews from Rushen and Castletown stations arrived shortly after 3pm to find a small fire in a log burner flue.
The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
The service says anyone planning to light their log burners ahead of the colder months should ensure they are properly prepared.
They advise using the correct fuel, having regular chimney sweeps, and installing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
