Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby went for two laps of Jurby Airfield as passenger in the sidecar of Manx TT star Ryan Crowe.
Mrs Maltby, who serves as the political member for motorsport in the Department for Enterprise, said the experience gave her 'Huge respect to anyone who puts their body through its paces racing'.
She added she was 'in bits after 5 minutes' of holding on as a passenger in the TT lap record holder's sidecar.
Maltby - whose father David Cretney is also a former well-known politician and Manx Grand Prix rider - thanked Ryan's brother and fellow racer Callum Crowe for lending her his leathers, even though they didn't fit very well.
