Police are working with their counterparts in neighbouring jurisdictions to try to identify a body found in the sea off Ramsey.
The body was brought up by the nets of a fishing boat on Friday evening.
The crew called police and Ramsey lifeboat recovered the body.
The person isn't believed to be local and police forces in the rest of the British Isles have been notified so they can check against their missing person records.
A cause of death hasn't been ascertained because of the condition of the body.
An inquest will be held on the Isle of Man and will be opened by the Coroner in due course.
