Officers say victims are receiving a text or whatsapp message that claims to have been sent by their child who is in trouble and in need of financial help.
Officers say a number of local people have already been misled by this scam and are now at a financial loss.
If you receive any suspicious messages or requests for money you can report it to the Office for Cyber Security and Information Assurance by emailing ocsia@gov.im
