Police are warning that it costs the taxpayer money when people dump rubbish in the wrong places.
Officers are investigating reports of fly tipping on the Kentraugh Road in Colby which happened last month.
Rubbish including a mattress and chest of drawers was dumped behind a gate.
Police say it is an unnecessary act and is disappointing considering a public amenity site is a short distance away.
Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact Port Erin Police Station.
