New Scam Targets Vulnerable Members of Society
There’s a new scam doing the rounds, this one is inviting the public to become Mystery Shoppers.
In recent weeks a Mystery Shopper advertisement has appeared in the local press, inviting people to earn money from home.
Potential local victims who have signed up are now starting to receive their assignment funds, in the form of a counterfeit cheque.
The cheque is a poor photocopy, and most victims should hopefully realise this and in the instance they do receive it they’re urged to hand it in at their nearest police station.
After they’ve sent out the fraudalent cheque the scam asks the victim to send £2542 off to them, the police warn to not under any circumstances comply with this request.
Members of the public are reminded to not give out any personal details to third parties if they have instigated the exchange, this also applies if you are not sure about the identity of the person you’re giving the information too.
