Police have provided an update on the scam text messages which circulated earlier this month.
The messages were sent from an manx number a few weeks ago.
Officers say in these instance they gather information to see if any victims had lost money and in this case - none had.
They worked with a local comms provider to get the number disconnected, and found out the sim card responsible for the texts was bought locally.
Police are now making further enquiries to locate the individual who was behind the scam.
