Police say they hope to comment later today about licensing issues that meant an event in the south of the Island couldn't feature live music at the weekend.
Castletown Festival organisers took to social media to announce no bands would be allowed to play after police had threatened prosecution.
It's not clear whether the event had a license allowing music and dancing.
On Twitter yesterday, Chief Constable Gary Roberts described reports police had silenced the festival as "scurrilous nonsense".
