A man has been arrested after headbutting and spitting on a police officer.
The incident happened on Prospect Terrace, after a wanted man was seen trying to swallow a number of items.
Fearing they could be drugs, officers attempted to restrain the man and retrieve the items.
However, as they did so the man in question launched the attack.
The constabulary has apologised to any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident, and are thanking those who stopped to help.
