Over 100 drivers were pulled over last week as police, alongside customs and excise, conducted a series of vehicle checks.
Officers stopped drivers at Braddan Bridge, Ballasalla and Ramsey to highlight the state of vehicles on the road.
Most of the vehicles stopped had defects.
Although officers say the problems were, in most cases, minor, its highlights a trend toward people not taking care of their vehicles.
Motorists are being reminded that red diesel is strictly regulated and drivers found to be using it on the road risk the possibility of their vehicle being seized and criminal prosecution.
