Police say the backlash created on social networking sites around an ongoing case is not helping them do their job properly.
It follows reports that a six year old boy in Pulrose was offered a lift from the occupants of a blue car on Sunday.
The police put details of the incident on the social networking site on Monday but removed the post yesterday after what they say were ‘wildly inaccurate’ comments with people naming and making threats against those people allegedly involved.
Police say they take all matters of public protection seriously – and that they are still investigating – but the vigilante style response from the public is not helping:
