Police were called to reports of a large group of people swimming in Laxey Bay this morning.
In a post on social media - officers say when they approached the bay just before 6.30am - many of those involved ran away from the scene.
The constabulary says although current Covid regulations allow for some outdoor exercise - only individual households, and two households in a support bubble together, can do so safely and legally in this manner.
Police say the size of the group suggests it was an organised gathering - enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved.
If you were a member of this group or you are aware of who was involved, you're asked to contact Ramsey Police Station.
Meanwhile - further information has come to light a similar gathering is being planned again - officers say they will attend any suspected gatherings of this nature.
