Douglas Council says there’s plenty of parking in the capital, and the issue instead is lack of public awareness.
The statement comes after the corporation held a survey asking people what would encourage them to visit town more - with more and cheaper parking coming up most often.
The council says research since revealed averages of more than 250 spaces available during weekday lunchtimes, and over 500 on Saturday lunchtimes.
It’s recommending people make use of free disk parking at the Chester Street complex, spaces at Drumgold Street car park or paying £2 per day at Shaw’s Brow on weekends.
