There are plans to strengthen flood defences alongside Glen Road in Laxey.
The Department of Infrastructure is proposing to strengthen and renew the river wall between between Laxey Woolen Mills and a point above Victoria Terrace.
The department has already been carrying out emergency replacement of parts of the retaining wall there which failed during the devastating floods in the town on October 1, 2019.
The failed sections of the wall have been reconstructed in reinforced concrete approximately 300mm (12 inches) higher than the original wall and it is intended to bring the proposed wall up to the same height.
All sections of the new wall will be faced in Manx stone recycled from the demolished wall, according to the department.
According to officials, planning permission is needed to carry out the work due to the increased height of the proposed structure - a planning application was submitted earlier this month.
The DOI says, subject to approval from the planning committee, it's hoping to start work on the project as soon as possible.
Highway Services says a letter is being sent out to residents in the Glen Road area informing them of the proposals.
