The Department of Infrastructure says it wants to improve sewage on Peel Breakwater to stop it being released directly into the sea.
The department has applied for planning permission to upgrade the system to deal with drainage and sewage from the public toilets and kiosk.
In its application, the DOI says at present the drains empty into the Irish Sea through an outfall behind the breakwater wall.
It's applied to install a new grease separator, holding tank and soakaway.
