A school in Douglas has applied to build extra classrooms to replace temporary buildings on its site.
St Mary's Roman Catholic School in St Mary's Road says it also wants to put canopies over outside teaching areas.
In its application, the Department of Education and Children says it wants to reclad the entire school in ceramic terracotta panels.
There are also proposals to enlarge the staff car park.
The plans include proposals to install two lifts and ramps to improve access to the school playground.
A two-storey extension would then create enough classroom space to replace temporary buildings outside the main school block.
The main school hall would be extended, with roof lights, a moveable wall and storage space - the department says the changes would allow the community to use the facilities.
No playground space would be lost under the proposals.
