Officials have begun the search for a qualified group to provide it at the facility in Jurby and work alongside both prison and healthcare staff.
The chosen organisation would be responsible for dispensing and ordering prescriptions as well as sourcing and buying prescribed and non-prescribed meds.
Those who take on the job would also be responsible for providing advice on controlling and managing stock, controlled drugs and policies and procedures at the prison along with making a remote pharmacist available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Saturday except on public holidays.
Government adds the provider will also have to comply with all relevant legislation, including The Isle of Man Formulary Choice, Misuse of Drugs Act 1976, The National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Service) Regulations 2005 and Medicines Act 2003.
Any qualified parties are now being invited to submit expressions of interest through the online government procurement portal before the deadline at Noon on Wednesday, November 25.
