There are plans to build charging bays for electric cars at Ronaldsway Airport.
Applicant Manx Utilities says there is an urgent need for such facilities, pointing out the island only has four public rapid charge points for 1,576 registered electric vehicles.
The six spaces would include a solar panel canopy above them, to help power the units.
They would replace spots which are currently used for commercial hire car parking.
