An application has been put forward to close Curragh Road in St Johns for a further month due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions on work.
The current closure is due to expire on May 15, but the Department of Infrastructure wants to extend it until June 15 because the previous work restrictions around Coronavirus has meant progress couldn't be made.
However, the DOI says contractors have restarted efforts on the initiative this week after the construction industry was given the go ahead to return to work last Friday.
As a result, the highway remains closed between the Ballacraine traffic lights and the Western Civic Amenity Site.
