Manx Telecom says rolling out fibre broadband means it needs to put up telegraph poles in some areas.
It's lodged a series of planning applications in Andreas, Ballaugh, Ramsey, Onchan and Castletown.
It says some parts of the Island don't have underground ducting or existing poles it can use.
In total, it's applied for more than 50 poles in seven separate applications.
