Chief Minister Alf Cannan says he's confident planning officials aren't swayed by advertising.
This week in the House of Keys he faced questions from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas about the way proposed developments can be advertised.
In response, Mr Cannan said companies often put hoardings or adverts near building sites.
But he said planning officials are professional enough to ignore outside influences when making decisions:
