Keeping a number of rural telephone boxes in operation on the Island isn't economically sustainable.
That's according to Manx Telecom which is planning to decommission six boxes - including five traditional red ones.
An online petition has been set up campaigning against their removal - it wants to create a community function for the iconic boxes instead, turning them into libraries or tourist information points.
Marketing director David Smith says the mounting costs of the telephones outweigh the benefits:
TT food van needed for trackside car park
Northern roadworks to hinge on Mountain Road reopening
Beer festival to return this week
Dublin to sign friendship agreement with Douglas in summer

Equipment being sold off from popular former bar
