A petition rallying support against an all-day dog ban on Port Erin Beach has reached nearly 500 signatures.
Under current by-laws which came into force in March, dogs are prohibited from being on the beach between 10.00 am and 7.00 pm between May and September - rules which petition starter John Anslow says work well.
He argues responsible dog owners should not be penalised by preventing them taking their pets for early morning walks where they cause "no disruption".
The petition now claims the proposal to impose a complete ban will no longer be presented at the Commissioners' meeting on Tuesday, August 12, but says the campaign is still important to ensure it does not go ahead in the future.
