A petition is demanding a number of places are reserved at a saver rate fare on every sailing for those with animal medical emergencies.
Started by Avril Muller, it currently has almost 300 signatures.
She says many animals have to be taken to England for emergency CAT or MRI scans and spinal surgery that can't be done on the Island, with owners forced to pay high boat fares.
As a result, the petition is calling for the government, as a stakeholder in the Steam Packet Company, to reserve several vehicle and foot passenger places on every sailing at a reduced fare.
Avril says by 'showing this act of compassion,' it'll take some of the burden off resident's shoulders.
