Petition against nursery closures gathering steam

A group of angry mothers gathered under the jubilee clock in Douglas yesterday to sign the petition against the proposed closure of all of the Island's nurseries and pre school education.

It was revealed that significant cut backs were having to be made by the Department of Education and Children in an effort to deal with a £9.7 million budget cut.

However it was announced that some of the money will be poured back into offering financial help to struggling parents to find alternative pre-school education.

The signatures will be presented to Tynwald when they've all been gathered, we got the reactions from one of the people who had turned out to give her support:
