Treasury Minister Alex Allinson says Island residents over 75 will get free TV licences for another two years.
A 2020 scheme giving them free licences was due to run out in around a month's time - but will now be extended.
Dr Allinson says pensioners on income support aged over 75 already get free licences under a BBC scheme.
And he says the Treasury is to talk to the BBC as the organisation's Royal Charter is due to expire in 2027.
