Peel Town Commissioners have elected to raise the town’s rates by seven pence, a change which will come into force on 1 April.
The rate has remained at 257 pence in the pound for five years.
In their monthly meeting yesterday evening, commissioners debated contributing factors including inflation, loss of income from Peel Campsite due to Covid restrictions, and the call from Central Government for Local Authorities to meet the rising costs of swimming pool operations.
Commissioners also agreed to raise the town’s refuse collection rate from 196p to 198p per household.
The vote was split with four members voting in favour, and three members voting against or abstaining.
