The Department of Infrastructure says it's installed fencing around a Peel landmark to keep the public out for safety reasons.
A Freedom of Information request asked about fencing at Castle Jetty and East Pier, which has developed large cracks threatening the structure.
In its response, the department said fencing it already owned had been used to seal off the jetty after engineering advice.
And it added although stabilization work had been carried out, it doesn't have a timescale for full repairs - as they're subject to funding and planning.
