Douglas Council says it's selling off 16 seized properties to pay outstanding rates bills.
Council leader David Christian says three properties have already been seized and sold in the past four months.
He says the local authority will be 'relentless' recovering arrears, and is taking legal action against a number of property owners.
Mr Christian says 16 properties are currently being sold off to pay their owners' debts to the council.
In total, they owe more than £32,000 and Mr Christian says 14 out of the 16 cases involve property owners who live off the Island.
He says failing to pay rates impacts directly on the council and its services - as well as the wider community.
