An Island clergyman has defended a Northern Ireland bakery that's been ruled discriminatory by the courts.
Dr Jules Gomes, pastor of St Augustine's Church in Douglas, says this week's finding against Ashers Baking Company over its refusal to bake a cake for a gay couple smacks of totalitarianism.
In an article for the Virtue Online website, Dr Gomes says the business was well within its rights to refuse to make a cake which supported gay marriage.
And he says businesses should have the right to discriminate, adding "gay rights campaigners can now have their cake and eat it as well".
