Survey Reveals High Levels of Obesity on Island
A survey into the Isle of Man’s Health and Lifestyle habits has produced some startling results.
Carried out a year ago the survey was ordered by, what was then The Department of Health and Social Security.
It has shown that 50.4% of adults are obese or overweight, when compared with the North West of England the Island's figure is a fraction higher.
Obesity can lead to a number of conditions, high blood pressure and heart problems being the most prevalent.
Dr Paul Emerson is a consultant of Public Health, he said the Survey has highlighted the severity of the problem, and they must now act to ensure that figures are brought down considerably to avoid major issues in the future.
