Over 100 Vehicle Defect Notices have been issued to drivers so far this month.
That's according to police, who have been undertaking winter vehicle checks.
The northern policing team says they've been pushing the notices on the run up to the dark nights to ensure everyone is driving safely.
Officers add that this will lead to a reduction in defective vehicles and to the removal of vehicles which shouldn't be on the road.
