The government wants to link up with an experienced institution which can give scientific guidance for the Manx fishing industry.
It's on the lookout for a recognised and established university or research institution to provide independent fisheries science advice to the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture.
It's planned the right body will be able to conduct research and report on king and queen scallop stocks, offer management advice and provide research programmes for other shellfish stocks including crab, lobster and whelk.
Officials are now inviting expressions of interest for taking up the task - the deadline for which is at Noon on Friday, February 21.
