Santon brewery Bushy's has been inundated with public support since it revealed it was being threatened with legal action over using the letters "TT".
Yesterday, the company revealed the Department of Economic Development had demanded the company stops using its registered trademark or face court action.
However, thousands of people have taken to social media to criticise the government and voice their support for Bushy's.
And an online petition opposing the government's move has already attracted more than 300 signatures from wellwishers.
The change.org petition was set up last night by Harry Crellin of Douglas, and already has more than 300 signatures - you can find it here.
It calls on the government to drop its threatened legal action and make the TT trademark available to local companies who want to use it.
Meanwhile, member of the Department of Economic Development Rob Callister says he's looking into the issue after it was brought to his attention.
He says he's hoping to meet Bushy's managing director Martin Brunnschweiler to try to find a way forward.
