There are fears that there could be 9 job losses at Douglas Borough Council after Onchan have pulled out of the Kerbside recycling scheme.
The collection of recyclable items from people's homes began in 2008 in Onchan, Douglas and Braddan.
The Government have funded the scheme until September then the local authorities were going to take over however Onchan commissioners claim that it's costing too much and isn't really helping the planet.
Graham Crageen from the Department of Infrastructure said Onchan pulling out of the scheme came as a shock.
He said it could mean the people who work on the scheme will be out of a job. (audio above)
