Onchan Commissioners say rates in the district will go up by just over six per cent this year.
The Board agreed the rise at a meeting on Monday.
The rise, from 431 to 457 pence in the pound, is well above the rate of inflation - which stood at 3.3 per cent in December.
The local authority says a third of the hike will be used for loan repayments after it borrowed £897,000 last September to replace streetlights.
