Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says Manx Electric Railway tracks being laid in Onchan aren't using rails earmarked for the horse trams.
This week, in the House of Keys, he faced questions about where the rails currently being installed on King Edward Road came from.
North Douglas MHK David Ashford wanted to know if they'd originally been destined to be laid for the trams along Douglas Promenade.
Mr Harmer, however, said they'd been bought specifically for the ongoing MER work:
