Onchan commissioners are considering building housing on two vacant sites in the district.
At the board's December meeting, members discussed the former gas works on Second Avenue as well as the former Molly's Kitchen on Harbour Road.
Both sites have lain unused for some years.
The local authority voted to approach the landowners about the possibility of using both for social housing.
