Onchan Commissioners have applied a rent cap in an effort to protect local tenants who face major rent hikes.
The latest pointing system introduced by the Department of Social Care would have seen residents incur increases ranging from three per cent to 22 per cent - a figure deemed unacceptable by the commissioners.
They say since learning of the new system they’ve been concerned for the welfare of the more vulnerable members of the community.
