An on-Island clinician has been appointed to lead sexual assault referral services.
Dr Jenny Waters is an experienced full-time forensic medical examiner and will work as part of an initiative set up by Manx Care, the Department of Home Affairs, the Isle of Man Constabulary and Public Health.
She'll work with the police to deliver immediate crisis care and collect forensic evidence to support a potential criminal prosecution, should a victim or survivor choose to do so.
The government aims to develop a Sexual Assault Referral Centre offering immediate assistance, support and counselling, along with examinations and police witness interviews.
