With December now upon us and Christmas fever setting in the office of fair trading is offering timely advice to help consumers steer clear of debt.
It's urging people to plan early and avoid impulse spending - you’re also reminded not to forget everyday life amidst all the hype.
The OFT also suggests trying to generate extra money by selling unused and unwanted items, using local on-line selling sites.
If extra money is needed you’re urged not to borrow from unregistered lenders, you’re also advised to avoid traders you don’t trust.
