It's been reported some people are planning to do the Parish Walk this month.
That's according to the Parish Walk Committee and Police - who've been made aware of the reports.
In a statement from Manx Telecom, organisers say this would not be sanctioned by the Committee, who have experience, knowledge and safety information in running the event.
They add as such, it is not something that the Police would be able to endorse either.
Organisers say the event normally requires extensive planning over 11 months, risk assessments, traffic management including road closures, speed restriction, diversions, extensive marshalling, police patrols and signage across 85 miles.
The importance of all these safety measures cannot be over emphasised, particularly during the hours of darkness.
The Police and Parish Walk Committee are urging everyone to wait until next year and enter the Manx Telecom Parish Walk 2021.
