Government officials are explaining the reasons for the nine-week setback to the Douglas Promenade refurbishment.
In information revealed in response to a freedom of information request, the Department of Infrastructure says 'unforeseen underground' work has been encountered during excavation which have meant redesigning some aspects of the proposals.
The DOI adds some utilities have also had to be diverted and that the contractor is re-programming the project which might lead to it being finished at a later date than previously planned.
Furthermore, the cost of the refurb up to the end of July stood at just over £3.77million, just under £1.6million less than previously forecast for this point.
