Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford says 27 government employees are taking sabbaticals this year, with another three planned.
He was asked for the figures in a question for written reply from Middle MHK Stu Peters, who wanted details about how many staff have taken career breaks.
Mr Ashford said those who'd worked in government for more than three years could apply to take unpaid leave for between three and 12 months.
He said last year 22 people had been given permission, with 27 the year before.
