Yesterday, astronomers predicted a solar storm would hit the earth but the effects turned out to be less than expected.
As a result, last night saw only the faintest traces of the aurora.
Tonight, however, there's a good chance of seeing the phenomenon to the north from 10pm through to 1am - if the weather stays clear.
