North Quay in Douglas will be closed to traffic at weekends from the end of this month.
Douglas City Centre Management had applied to shut the road between Market Hill and Ridgeway Street from 11am on Fridays to 8am on Mondays from 29 March until March next year.
It says it wants to create a high-quality pedestrian leisure environment and hold events there.
The closure will include all Bank Holidays, TT and MGP and evening closures for Euro 24 football matches involving England, Wales or Scotland.
