 
                            The director of education says his department hasn’t done a u-turn over proposals to introduce tuition fees.
Yesterday the Department of Education and Children confirmed that the new student awards regulations would not be put to Tynwald next week, as planned.
	
Instead they’ll be put forward in January.
	
It’s after politicians complained that they hadn’t had enough time to process the information and respond to constituent enquiries.
	
If approved the regulations would see students paying at least £2,500 in university fees each year.
	
Martin Barrow says the department knew it was a tight timescale:
